  • Out of Touch/Karate Mom

GOOD GOSH FOLKS!  It’s been over a week since I posted?

As the title says, I’ve been out of touch for 6 days.  I was taking care of Abbie and Emily while their daddy Paul was receiving his last treatment of chemotherapy.  YEAH!!  The coverage at their home is HORRIBLE.  My aircard does not get full coverage at all while I am at their house.  On Monday evening I was a karate mom as I had to take the girls to their karate lesson.  They really did a good job, I was so proud of them!

    So while I was away:

Charlie and I went to the cemetery to put flowers at my parents grave (Christopher usually always has flowers at his gravesite so I didn’t bring any for him):

I took a photo of a beautiful sunrise at work:

My niece Jessica turned 7 years old, had a party at the Build a Bear store at the mall and then a family party later that evening.  Jessica is holding her new pooch that she and her family just adopted, “Eechy-wah-wah” – Not really sure of the spelling!

**I started this entry on Wednesday afternoon and still wasn’t able to finish it.  I went to Abbie’s house for her 9th birthday last night:

And last but not least, I have been doing work at my house so I decided to share a couple of photos with you all of my fireplace. It was originally exposed brick on 3 sides (front room and kitchen area).  I had the guys cover the brick with sheetrock and the hearth was covered with marble tile.  I LOVE the finished result:

    Weekend Activities:

Saturday I’m taking the children to the pumpkin patch and then on Sunday morning Denise and I are going out of town for one night.  We are going to a town called Solvang which is 4 hours away from SJ.  It’s a quaint, touristy Danish style town.  Being Denise works at a bakery, I’m sure we will stop in a bakery or too while in Solvang!

I’ll be by your sites to catch up with everyone before I go out of town.  Also, tomorrow I’m taking my little man Chili to the vet.  He is losing weight and he really can’t afford to.  He lost 1 pound in two weeks which makes him only 7 pounds.  That is the lightest he has weighed in a very long time.  My little man will be 16 years old on October 30th.  <sigh>

Hugs to you all and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

  • Wow you have been busy and hope you have a wonderful week end also.

  • What a beautiful cemetery. So peaceful and well kept. You’re a good daughter.

I giggled at Charlie’s little head in that pic!!

I LOVE the fireplace!!! Your home looks lovely from what I can see…lots of light too! I see Chili’s head in the one pic. I suppose he’s trying to figure out what the hell happened to the brick! hahaha..sorry he’s losing weight. Well, What can I say? Here you go again? Damn.

Jessica has a pink guitar? What a girl!!!! Her little pooch is a cutie. A furrie friend to snuggle with in bed at night! And there YOU are, surrounded by the kids. You are most definitely a kid magnet girl.

I know it was a great comfort to have you take care of the children during such a difficult time. I KNOW the kids loved having you there. They’ll probably never get over being spoiled while you were there either. I can only imagine!!

If I don’t see you before then, have fun at the pumpkin patch, Linus. I hope the Great Pumpkin visits!!

And definitely have a great time on your getaway!! Raise some hell girl!!!!!!!

  • Love the look of the fireplace. Is Jessica playing guitar now?

  • You are a busy lady and so involved with your beautiful family.

    Keep us posted.

    HUGS to you.

  • Hiya Busy Girl!  As always, full of news of family.  Glad everyone is doing well.

I went to an old cemetery last weekend, not as nicely kept as the one in your pictures, but we found some old old relatives buried there.  It was pretty neat.

Your weekend sounds great, hopefully you’ll have beautiful weather for your pumpkin outing and your overnighter.  I’ll be looking forward to seeing some pics of your trip!

  • I absolutely LOVE the fireplace.  LOVE IT!!!  We will be pulling the carpet out of the family room and building a game closet in there this weekend.  I am off on Monday, so that will give me a little time to rest.

Don’t worry about Chili…He’s probably run that weight off trying to keep up with Charlie!  XOXO!

  • You have been a busy girl.!!

    Love love love the fireplace!

  • The fireplace looks amazing!  Sounds like you have been busy.  I bet you had a blast watching the kids though.  Great pictures!  Happy Birthday to Jessica and Abbie!  Have fun at the pumpkin patch.  Can’t wait to see pictures from there!  We are trying to figure out a way to get the kids to the one 30 minutes from here.  Not sure it will work out though.

The park we were at is about an hour and 40 minutes from us.  An hour from the youngests and about 5 minutes from the oldests.

  • Oh my goodness that cemetary is just lovely..what statues..* and all of the birthdays..how special…all having a great time..lots of smiles:) so happy you have such a big family Janice..and oh the fireplace is just beautiful! • You’re such a good person to be helping out with the kids. I will keep your family in my thoughts.

I love the fireplace! I want one here so badly. There is a chimney in the wall but something tells me, with the house being over 100 years old, I better not try to use it!

    Good luck to your little man. I’ll be keeping him in my thoughts as well. {{{HUGS}}}
