Is There A Doctor In The House?
Good Evening Folks - It was a very quiet weekend for me and my furry children. We basically just chilled all weekend.
My little girl Mandy is doing pretty good considering she had major surgery less then 1 week ago. We went back to the doctor today and he checked out her incision. I told him that I wanted to see her after he took her bandage off. I could not believe how huge her incision was. It's at least 8" long. Poor little girl.
SO, after the doctor checked out her incision and said it looked good, he told me the bad news. He had the pathology report from the tumors. This is exactly what it says:
- Microscopic Findings: Mixed mammary carcinoma with lymphatic invasion.
- Prognosis: Guarded
- Comments: The masses are discrete, multinodular, well circumscribed, encapsulated, and appear completely excised. However, a solitary lymphatic contained neoplastic cells. The regional lymph node should be examined for any evidence of metastasis. Mammary tumors tend to be multicentric. Therefore, the mammary chain should be closely monitored for development of new tumors.
It doesn't sound too good, does it? The doctor suggested getting in touch with an oncologist but I'm not going to make Mandy go through chemotherapy. Poor little girl. I've just got to keep an eye on her to watch for tumors in the lymph node area:
There ya go folks. That is what is happening with my little girl. The above picture and more information about Mandy's cancer is on this website.
Mandy is doing well, getting back to her spunky self. She is eating good too, thankfully. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers for my furry little daughter.

Janice, I'm so sorry about Mandy. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. This is the first chance I've gotten to even try to catch up. I've been sucked into the vortex again.
Please know that I think of you often and hope that your little sweetie feels better soon. Give her a hug for me. Love you much!
I'm so sorry. Hopefully you will be able to provide her with a good quality of life until she passes.
Is it possible to remove the lymph nodes like they do in humans? If one is possibly invaded, maybe the vet could take it out. Well, I know this isn't pleasant but it's also not a surprise, is it?
sorry Janice.
I'm sorry for you and for Mandy.
It is so good that she has you to watch over her and make the hard decisions about her health. I know that no matter what you will not allow her to suffer at all. Sounds like she is doing very well at this point.
Poor lil girl. I don't blame you. Why put them thru all that terrible stuff? She could live just as long or longer without it and not have to go thru all that. I would never put Bandit thru it either. Some time the cure is worse than the disease.
Big Hugs Sweetness!
My heart goes out to you and I know exactly what you are going through. I remember when JouJou was first diagnosed. She not only had the chronic kidney failure but she also had other things...cancer included. We were able to enjoy her for 9 more months...We did what we could and enjoyed everyday with her. Those were quality times and she did enjoy her last several months ...she finally succumbed to a massive stroke but....no matter how long they live, it always is way way too hard when you have to say good bye and if you think for a moment they might be suffering.... Sometimes they will put on a brave front ... that is to please you. But they are suffering.
I would not want little Mandy to suffer one moment. I suppose we could have done something for JouJou after she suffered that stroke but her quality of life would have been nil and she would have suffered. Oh God....no way would I want her to suffer. No way!
As long as Mandy seems to be feeling fine continue being the wonderful mom that you are and give her lots of loving.
Love and Prayers my friend.
Fran
I appreciate that, as you know.
Praying is what we can do, that and keep her comfortable and happy.
I'm sure sorry about the news, though. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case.
