I shared this with my family and thought it should be shared with all of you too.
This is a from a Positive Thoughts/Attitude newsletter that I receive daily:
One of the most wonderful things about having a positive attitude
is the number of people it touches, many times in ways you'll
never know.
Not long ago I was in Nashville, Tennessee and I went into a
convenience store to get a newspaper and a pack a gum.
The young women at the check-out counter said, "That 'll be
five dollars please," and as I reached into my wallet, the thought
occurred to me that a newspaper and gum didn't quite make it
to five dollars.
When I looked up to get a "re-quote", she had a big smile on
her face and said, "Gotcha! I got to get my tip in there somehow!"
I laughed when I knew I'd been had. She then glanced down at
the paper I was buying and said, "I'm sick and tired of all this
negative stuff on the front pages. I want to read some good
news for a change."
She then said, "In fact, I think someone should just publish a
Good News newspaper - a paper with wonderful, inspiring
stories about people overcoming adversity and doing good things
for others. I'd buy one everyday!"
She then thanked me for coming in and said, "Maybe we'll get
lucky tomorrow; maybe we'll get some good news," and she
laughed. She made my day.
The following day, after my business appointments, I dropped
by the same store again to pick up a bottled water, but a
different young lady was behind the counter.
As I checked out I said, "Good afternoon," and handed her my
money for the water. She said nothing - not a word, not a smile...
nothing. She just handed me my change and in a negative tone
ordered...."Next!"
It hit me right between the eyes: Two people, same age; one
made me feel great, and the other, well, made me feel that I had
inconvenienced her by showing up.
By the choices we make, by the attitudes we exhibit, we are
influencing lives every day in positive or negative ways...our family,
our peers, our friends, and even strangers we've never met before
and will never meet again.
So when you brush your teeth every morning, look in the mirror
and ask yourself..."Are there things I'd like to change?" How will
you choose to live your Dash...as "the grouch" or as "the good
news girl?"
Your answer will go a long way toward determining the joy and
happiness that you will experience in your life.

OK, so it is OFFICIALLY spring now and besides having the beautiful flowers blooming, we've also got allergies going on. AAHHCHOOOOOOOOOO...........Love spring but can't stand it all at the same time.
But in the meantime, I bring you more photos that I took last weekend:
Here are the beautiful East Foothills of San Jose:
Tomorrow Jessica and I are going to hang out and shop til' we drop! In the evening I'll be going with Denise to a Multi Cultural evening at our alma mater (her children's high school too). Saturday I'll be at my niece's house coloring eggs with Jessica and Matthew. Sunday will be our annual Easter egg hunt and then dinner following the hunt.
THOSE would be my weekend plans. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter Sunday. I KNOW there will be lots of hugging going on this weekend, so do I even need to say it?!

How beautiful it is there!! No wonder our grandson says California is the "bees knees"!!!!
It is only 34 degrees here, and snow is still on the ground----but I did see my tulips peeping out of the planting area against the south side of the house. Spring IS here!! Have a wonderful Easter----it sure sounds as though you will!!
Have fun and don't forget the allergy meds and your camera!
I think that's why I really hate to continually complain to my Xanga pals.. even though I know they are far too classy to bring it to my attention. So, most of my gripes are private.
Oklahoma is beautiful now too. Things are really starting to bloom and green up. A far cry from the scorching heat you suffered when you were here. I love this time of the year.
Easter egg hunts...lol...Most of us adults do the egg hiding. We had to switch to the toy eggs because people kept forgetting where they were all hidden. When Dad was alive, he would find anywhere from 3 to 5 boiled eggs when he mowed during the weeks following Easter! I guess that's what happens when you age...you can hide your eggs and hunt them too!!!
Have a great weekend!!! (((HUGS)))
Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate your comments.
It is a privilege to sing in our choir. Our church is awesome and I cannot believe that my husband and I accidentally began to attend 10 years ago.
Thinking of you during this Holy Week. Christy
More beautiful thoughts and beautiful pictures from a beautiful lady.
Have fun with Jessica. I can't wait to see what you buy for her. Stinker!!
Love you Janice.
OMG the pictures were beautiful- I loved the picture of the hill/mountains- wow looks like spring to me.
that is such a sad story, I'm sorry for your loss =[
my boyfriend's uncle died when he fell asleep in his own bed, and someone came into his house and injected him with heroine.
these things that happen are so rediculous... and rediculously sad.
Beautiful photos!!!
Happy Easter to you too!
Someone around here does publish a Good News Newspaper. I don't know how often it comes out, monthly I think. Not a very money-making enterprise, I'm sure.
Oh --I love those foothills! And, the flowers. We, of course ,have none yet. It has warmed up some. The end of month ,for a week I will be warm in Arizona.
There are various newspaper companies that do have positive news.. I know of several in the Kansas City area.. around the 39th street... but here in Austin.. I have yet seen one.. I thought I would drop in .. and leave a comment.. I like what you have here on your post.. and they are lovely pictures.. one could meditate to them... thank you for sharing.. and stopping in.
This post surely gives me a good feeling. All those beautiful pictures...so colorful. I would love to have the talent to watercolor those scenes. But I could never duplicate what our Creator can do.
You have a blessed Easter. We left sunny Florida and are "enjoying"(???) lots of snow and cold here in IN but it's the warmth of family that is more important...
Love,
Fran
Pretty pictures!
So true about positive attitudes. When I'm at my most angry or sad all it takes is a happy person to talk to me and I usually feel better!
Hope you have a Happy Easter!
