Prayers Needed on Wednesday
Howdy Friends, Family and Neighbors....well, I don't think my neighbors are reading my Xanga, I just thought I would throw that one in.
On Wednesday my friend Dora's husband Paul will be having surgery for his cancer. I am taking the day off to stay with Dora while Paul has his surgery. He will be staying overnight too.
My Weekend Activities:
Saturday: Sue and I tried to find some garage sales but we weren't too successful. We did find a few, but no big deal.
Saturday afternoon/evening: I went with my sister to her friend's niece's quincenera. It was beautiful. I didn't take photos of the birthday girl as I don't know her but I did take a few photos at the church (Christopher's alma mater) and at the reception:
The theme of the party was Little Mermaid. The cake was beautiful:
My sis Debbie and myself:
Sunday: After going to breakfast with some of my family, I took Pierce and Peyton with me so we could spend the day together. Sue was with me as well so before going home, we hit up Target and TJ Maxx. THIS was what we found when we got back to my car:
My window was not left open. NOPE, someone BROKE into my car and took Sue's purse. Not just ANY purse....it was a purse that she JUST bought around Christmas time. Sue doesn't buy purses that often (like I do at Ross)......she buys a REALLY nice purse, uses it for about 20 years (not kidding) and then buys a new one. SO, the purse that the thief took cost about $380 dollars. BUT, it wasn't the purse that was a big deal. It was the items in it that meant a lot to Sue....her 38 year old daughter's diaper pin from when she was a baby, a pocket knife that her father bought her a few years before he passed away, a small bible that belonged to her mother when she was a child (probably about 80 years old) and various photos. There was only $20 in her purse and she had her credit cards and cell phone with her.
I called my insurance company and filed a claim. Poor Sue was so broken up about this happening. I felt so bad for her too because of all the personal items that were in her purse that only meant something to HER. Sue's daughter has been telling her for YEARS not to leave her purse in the car but I guess it took something like this to happen for Sue to learn her lesson. I could care less about the damage to my car (it was only a broken window) but Sue fel really bad that it happened.
SO, today after doing my payroll, I took the rest of the day off to bring my car to the shop and then get a rental car. NO, it didn't take all day to do that but I decided to just take care of my business and then go home.
My brother had let me borrow one of his vehicles while my car was parked in his garage. Of course, Murphy's Law - It started raining today. Plus, my brother has been trying to sell his truck for MONTHS and guess what happened on Sunday? Yep, he got a buyer for it.
The shop is so busy that I brought my car to this morning that they won't be able to look at it until Thursday. BUT, when I brought my car to be checked out last night by the claims dude, he cut me a CHECK last night to pay the shop. Can you believe that? I already have the $$ to get the car repaired. My insurance company ROCKS!
Anyway, I'm at Denise's house right now. I miss my computer at home and miss my Xanga friends. I'll be back here tomorrow night to watch Big Brother with Denise so I will be able to visit you all then.
Have a wonderful Wednesday and be sure to hug your families.

That really sucks. I have had that happen to my car... and my purse!
I hope your friend's husband comes through his surgery without any complications.
That stinks! Very bold of someone to bust out your window and in broad daylight too. I feel bad for your friend, the money isn't important but those keepsakes can't be replaced. Ug...the nerve of some people! *hugs*
Oh my..I will keep him...all of you in my thoughts today* and oh what a shame...sentimental things..:( so sad..hugs to her...* what a lovely cake..and place to be....hope all goes well today.sweet friend...you are so sweet to be there for her**
hugs to you..love, Lee
So much to comment on today. . .but I'll keep it short. First, I'll say a prayer right now for your friend's husband. Second, that's got to be one of the most beautiful birthday cakes I've ever seen. Bravo!
Saying a prayer for Paul- he is probably in surgery right now.
Oh man that sucks about the window be broken and Sue's purse being stolen. Maybe he will dump it some place and a nice person will find it and return it!
Prayers for Paul!
Dadgum it anyway. I'm so sorry for Sue. Those precious items that probably didn't mean a thing to anyone else.
Wow that is great to get the bucks to get your car fixed all ready! That does rock!
Well, that was a downer on what was supposed to be a good time!
I hope someone at least turns to purse and contents in, wouldn't that be a miracle. I had my purse stolen once, and did get it back.
I'll send up some prayers for your friends. Good of you to go sit with them.
I can't believe that anyone in this day and age leaves a purse unhidden in a car. I am soooo sorry this happened tho. People have no respect for anyone's property anymore.
I pray for the friend's cancer recovery. And , I do have sympathy for the car theft. The damage to the car, and the lost purse. It reminds me to keep telling my granddaughter that it is not good to leave things behind in the car. I do read your posts. Hang in there.
I hope that Paul's surgery went well!
So sorry about Sue's purse. Even in our small town I would never think of leaving a purse in plain sight in the car. The would-be thief would not know that there wasn't any money in it. How sad that she lost all those precious treasures.
I haven't heard personally from our grandson, but have heard through his parents that he is really enjoying school there. Says it is fairly easy. He also loves to cook, and has already had one dinner party. He and his roommate get along well. I'm just wondering why he isn't looking for a job yet!! Did I tell you he lives in the big apartment complex right behind the Chiropractic college??
RYC: In mid-December I bought a new digital camera. I got a Canon Power Shot SD 1000. It is nice and tiny. When I took the eclipse picture, the moon looked pretty small on the picture. But, I have a software program to play around with pictures. Paint Shop Pro X. I was able to crop the picture to bring the moon in closer, and then sharpen and clarify it a little bit. It turned out a little grainy, but not too bad!
Have a great weekend. Love the pic of you and your sis.
RYC:
Oh, so sorry about the broken window, but what the heck was Sue thinking to leave her purse in the car where someone could see it???
Debbie looks so much like you! You are both beautiful!
