The above bullet items are just some important things that happened in 1980. My nephew Shane was born in August of 1980. That should be included above too! BUT, the reason I am writing about 1980 is that 28 years ago on January 3rd, was the first day of my job. WHERE has the time gone? I don't feel any older then when I started working for "the company" 28 years ago.
If any of you saw the movie "Erin Brokovich", I work for the company that she sued. I actually couldn't watch the movie because I was embarrassed at what our company did. My sis Debbie, brother-in-law Robin, nephew Jimmy and a cousin of mine all work for the same company. My sis Nini had almost 19 years working for the company until she got married and moved to Virginia.
I've been in my current position at work now for almost 17 years. I do payroll for 35+ men. I LOVE my bosses, we have a really good relationship. Maybe they will let me take 1/2 day off to go shopping to celebrate my anniversary? Nah, I've go tooooo much work to do being that it's the beginning of the month/year.
You all have a wonderful day. Be sure to hug your families too.

1980 is the one year I remember well. It was the year I got married. Enjoy your anniversary.
That's great you've had your job that long and still like it. lol Your sister lives in VA? Great state!
Were all those things in 1980? Some of them seem like yesterday. I can't imagine ever having worked without 3M Post It Notes.
Yeah!!! Why isn't Shane's name in there??!!????!!!!!
Congratulations on your long and successful career and surving with the same company that long!! I hope you're making $650,000.00 a year by now. I'm sure you're worth at least that much!
Well, I'm sure no one can blame you for what happened with the company. Just don't drink the water! heehee.
Have a fun day, even if you have to work. At least don't sit at your desk and work through your lunch. I have a funny feeling you probably do that a lot!
Wow what an achievement! That's a real accomplishment to be with a company that long. You could be real close to retirement? Then you can play with your babies and kiddies all the time. Wouldn't that be wonderful! Congrats!
Wow, I saw that movie. I didn't know you worked for that company! And for 28 years? Wow, that is unheard of anymore. You rock!
I remember who shot JR. hahahaha Now my kids are like "who's JR?"
Dau graduated HS in 80 that is about all I remember. I wouldn't make a very good historian.
Hang in there with the job. Very few anymore continue at the same job year after year.
Post its were invented that year? Well, they need to credit their success to me, that's for sure! LOL!
Congratulations on the 28 years. I'm having a tough time here and this is only my 7th. Of coruse, going through 4 disasters within that time does tend to take its toll.
They need to let you go shopping. I always say, "A happy worker is a productive one!" (((HUGS)))
Wow that is a long time on the job. When I retired in May I had 15 years with that company--- 28 years! Wow!!!! Congrats
Wow .. I remember all of that!!!
